The D-Link DGS-1008D Switch, a desktop switch with 8 10/100 / 1000Mbps ports that offers high performance on a device that allows us to save space and money. Another feature on this switch is that all ports automatically negotiate the MDI / MDIX (Up-Link) mode setting, avoiding the need to create cross-pair cables. This desktop switch is an economical alternative to fiber optic for domestic offices and small and medium enterprises (SMEs). The increase in network loads is managed with the greater Gigabit Ethernet bandwidth.

The DGS-1008D Switch is compatible with IEEE 802.3 10BASE-T, 802.3u 100BASE-TX, 802.3ab 1000BASE-T and 803.3x flow control. This switch is equipped to auto negotiate speeds at 10Mbps, 100Mbps and 1000Mbps.

- Flow control
The DGS-1008D Switch, in Full-Duplex mode, allows users to be protected against possible data loss during network transmission. When they are connected to a LAN card (on a server or PC) that supports flow control, and when the data buffer is about to be filled, the switch sends a signal to the PC indicating such a situation. Then, the PC delays transmission until the buffer has been released and it is possible to send more information.

- Gigabit connectivity without fiber
The switch has 8 Gigabit ports in the familiar Ethernet format, so it works smoothly with existing network cables (Cat5 or higher). In full duplex mode, up to 2000 Mbps can be reached, allowing workstations to access server data without bottlenecks.
